Youth Sports

There are a number of nonprofit associations and organization who organize teams for children living in Ben Avon as well as the Avonworth (Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Emsworth, Kilbuck and Ohio Township) and Northgate (Bellevue and Avalon) communities. While the purpose of each organization is unique, they generally adhere to these principles:

  • Building fundamental athletic skills of the children.
  • Encouraging team participation and sportsmanship.
  • Stress having fun (some within competitive environments).
  • Prepare children for school-based sports programs (so that they have some skill and interest prior to going out for a team).
  • Encourage parents to be active participants with their children, including coaching and other activities.

Avonworth Athletic Association (AAA) – A nonprofit organization with elected board members that provides Little League baseball for youths 5-18 years old in spring and fall leagues. Monthly meetings are held the 2nd Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and the Emsworth Borough Hall. Serves the Avonworth community with baseball teams from T-ball to colt league.

Avonworth Girls Athletic Association (AGAA) – A nonprofit organization with elected board members that provides softball, basketball and more to be added for girls 6-18 years old. Spring and fall seasons with playing locations in Ohio Township, ACORD Park and Mayernik Field in Emsworth.

Avonworth Eagles Youth Football and Cheerleading – The Avonworth Eagles Incorporated is a nonprofit organization serving the Avonworth and Northgate communities with an elected board. The focus of our organization is to teach our children 5-13 years old the fundamental skills of football and cheerleading, while stressing fun and good sportsmanship. Seasons begins late summer-fall.

Avonworth Soccer Organization (ASA) – U9 and U19 (under 9 and under 19) boys’ and girls' soccer teams. ASA fields teams all year round. In the spring and fall outdoors and in the winter at the various indoor facilities in the area.
