PA Primary is Tuesday, June 2

On March 27, Governor Wolf signed Senate Bill 422, which reschedules Pennsylvania’s primary election from April 28 to June 2 due to the COVID-19 emergency. Voters have the option to vote by mail-in ballot rather than going to their polling place on election day. Mail-in ballot applications will be accepted through Tuesday, May 26, 2020. If a voter has already applied for an absentee or mail-in ballot, they do NOT need to reapply.

If you chose to vote in-person on Primary Election Day, the polling location for all Ben Avon residents is at the Ben Avon Fire Station, 7219 Church Avenue.  Voting hours are from 7am – 8pm.

For complete details and instructions, go to votespa.com or alleghenyvotes.com. You can also call the Allegheny County Elections Office at (412) 350-4500 for information.

Waste Management to resume Regular Collections

Effective Monday, May 4, 2020, Waste Management will resume their  regular schedule for the collection of all yard waste (grass clipping, brush, or tree limbs) and bulk items (furniture, carpet, mattresses, appliances) collected at the curb.

Please continue to focus on the following:

  • All trash/refuse must be bagged & sealed, and wherever possible, placed in containers. LOOSE TRASH WILL NOT BE COLLECTED
  • WM will continue to enforce bag limits.

Your Community Parks – Update

  • Avon Park is now restricting all group activities, including playground and recreational equipment.
  • Avonworth Community Park is following the lead of the Pennsylvania State Parks and remaining open except for the playground area. Please note that the restrooms facilities are not yet open for the season, however there are two hand wash stations available for use.

Park users should practice social distancing by staying at least six feet apart from each other. If residents choose to use playground equipment, park benches or other outdoor items with touch surfaces, proper handwashing and/or use of hand sanitizer is strongly encouraged before and afterward.
