Public Works Employee
Ben Avon Borough is filling a full-time position in the Department of Public Works. No CDL required, but the candidate must have truck driving experience and must be able to maneuver an attached trailer. Experience driving with snow plow and salt spreader is preferred. Home proximity close to Ben Avon preferred given need to quickly respond to emergency callouts. General carpentry and mechanical skills necessary to this critical position in a small crew. Duties include but are not limited to: maintenance and repair of Borough facilities/infrastructure/parks, snow/ice removal from streets/sidewalks, raking alongside leaf loader for street leaf pickup. Position may, at times, require working more than 8 consecutive hours per day and/or forty hours per week. Emergency call out on weekends is also possible. Position will require 24 hours on-call availability particularly during winter months for snow/ice removal. Candidate must be able to work in all outside weather conditions, lift heavy equipment, drive a manual transmission and have must have a valid PA driver’s license. Additional skill sets (concrete finishing, storm/sanitary sewer construction, electrical wiring knowledge, welding, backhoe operation, landscaping, grading) are desired but not required. We offer competitive wage and benefits to employees. Position will be paid on an hourly basis, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Avonworth Municipal Authority Volunteer
Ben Avon is looking for a few good residents to serve as Non-voting members of the Avonworth Municipal Authority – The AMA is the overseeing authority for the Avonworth Community Park which provides a variety of recreational and social amenities to the five communities within the Avonworth district.
